WhatsApp Business API in Bangladesh: Price, Providers and How to Get It
Bangladesh got its own WhatsApp rate card on 1 October 2026. What the API costs in taka, how to get access, and what to ask a provider before you pay.

In this article
Two weeks before Eid, a boutique in Uttara has 2,000 past buyers to tell about the new collection, three staff passing one phone around to answer replies, and "price?" messages still arriving at 12:30 am. That's usually the week a Bangladeshi seller first asks us about the WhatsApp Business API. The WhatsApp Business API in Bangladesh (Meta calls it the WhatsApp Business Platform) lets you message customers from software instead of one phone, with several agents, bots and approved broadcast templates. Since 1 October 2026 Bangladesh has its own lower rate card: about Tk 0.46 per service or utility message and about Tk 9 per marketing message, plus whatever your provider charges.
Key takeaways
- Meta moved Bangladesh to its own WhatsApp rate card on 1 October 2026. Partners list $0.0037 per utility, authentication and service message and $0.0732 per marketing message.
- Since the same date, Meta charges for ordinary replies inside the 24-hour customer service window (service messages) at the utility rate, with no volume discounts, after the first 1,000 free service messages per business phone number each month.
- To get access you need a Meta business portfolio, a phone number, a display name and a payment method. Business verification lifts your sending limit from 250 to 2,000 people a day.
- Meta and most providers bill in US dollars by card. Local payment by bKash is up to each provider, so ask before you sign.
- For most small Pages, broadcasts make up the bulk of the bill, not customer replies.
What is the WhatsApp Business API, and how is it different from the app?
The WhatsApp Business app is a free phone app for one business number, used by a person. The WhatsApp Business API, which Meta now calls the WhatsApp Business Platform or Cloud API, connects your number to software, so several people, a bot and broadcast tools can work on it at once. The API charges per delivered message; the app doesn't.
The app suits a seller answering 20 or 30 chats a day from one phone. It has labels, quick replies, a greeting and an away message, and it costs nothing. If that's you, stay on it. It runs out of road when two or three people need to answer from different devices, when you want a bot to reply at night, or when you need to send order updates and offers to thousands of customers without copying a broadcast list 256 names at a time.
There's a middle option called coexistence: the same number works in the WhatsApp Business app and through the API at once. Meta's documentation says messages you send from the app stay free, while messages sent through the API are billed at API rates. You need app version 2.24.17 or later and a provider that supports it, and some app features, such as broadcast lists, switch off. We compare all three in WhatsApp Business app vs Cloud API vs coexistence.
| Option | Who it suits | Cost from Meta | Main limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| WhatsApp Business app | One owner, up to a few dozen chats a day | Free | Built for one phone and a person typing; no bot that reads questions |
| Business API (Cloud API) through a provider | Teams, bots, regular broadcasts | Per delivered message from 1 Oct 2026, including replies | Templates needed outside the 24-hour window; provider fee on top |
| Coexistence (app and API on one number) | Owners who want to keep the phone app while adding a team inbox | App messages free; API messages charged | Some app features turn off; needs a provider that supports it |
| Cloud API direct from Meta | Businesses with their own developer | Meta's per-message rates only | You build and host the inbox yourself |
WhatsApp Business API price in Bangladesh
Meta charges per delivered message, by category and by the recipient's country code. Until 30 September 2026, a +880 number fell under Meta's "Rest of Asia Pacific" rates. From 1 October 2026, Meta's pricing page lists Bangladesh among the markets moved to their own rate card, with lower utility and authentication rates. Meta partners Zernio and SleekFlow both publish the new figures.
| Message type | Example | Meta list rate (USD) | In taka (Tk 123.16 per $) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marketing template | Eid offer, new collection, "come back" message | $0.0732 | about Tk 9.02 |
| Utility template | Order confirmed, parcel shipped, appointment reminder | $0.0037 | about Tk 0.46 |
| Authentication template | One-time passcode for login | $0.0037 | about Tk 0.46 |
| Service message | Any free-form reply inside 24 hours of the customer's message | $0.0037 | about Tk 0.46 |
| Any message in a free entry point window | Replies after a click-to-WhatsApp ad, sent within 24 hours | Free, window open up to 7 days | Tk 0 |
The taka figures use Bangladesh Bank's weighted average rate of Tk 123.16 per dollar on 11 October 2026. Provider fees aren't included. Some providers show Meta's rate and their fee separately; SleekFlow, for example, lists Bangladesh marketing at $0.08418, about 15% above Meta's list rate.
Are WhatsApp replies to customers still free in Bangladesh?
Partly. Meta gives each business phone number 1,000 free service messages a month. From the 1,001st, it charges each delivered free-form reply inside the 24-hour window at the market's utility rate: for Bangladesh, $0.0037, about Tk 0.46. There are no volume tiers. Replies in a free entry point window from click-to-WhatsApp ads stay free.
The 1,000 free messages are Meta's own rule, on its developer pricing page (updated 30 September 2026). They reset each month, don't roll over, and count per business phone number, so a shop under 1,000 service replies a month pays Meta nothing for them. The same page says a free entry point window, opened when someone messages you from a click-to-WhatsApp ad on the Android or iOS app and you reply within 24 hours, can stay open for up to 7 days; some older Meta pages still say 72 hours. Messages your customers send you are never charged.
How much does it cost a Bangladeshi shop per month?
For a typical small shop, Meta's fees for replies are modest and broadcasts are the big line. Example: 1,500 customer chats a month needing about four replies each, 1,000 order updates and two offers to 2,000 customers comes to roughly Tk 38,800 in Meta fees, and over 90% of that is the two broadcasts.
The example worked through, with illustrative numbers. Swap in your own.
- 6,000 service replies, minus Meta's 1,000 free = 5,000 charged × $0.0037 = $18.50, about Tk 2,278.
- 1,000 order updates (utility) × $0.0037 = $3.70, about Tk 456.
- 4,000 marketing messages (two offers to 2,000 people) × $0.0732 = $292.80, about Tk 36,061.

Two lessons from that. First, a reply that answers the question in one message is cheaper than three half-answers, once you're past the free 1,000. "Tk 1,250, M and L in stock, Tk 70 delivery" is one message; "price?" then "size?" then "where are you?" is three. Second, if you want to cut the bill, cut the broadcast list before you cut replies. Sending the Eid offer to the 600 people who bought last Eid, instead of all 2,000, saves more than a year of reply fees. For some offers, bulk SMS is far cheaper per message, as our WhatsApp broadcast vs SMS comparison shows.
The provider's fee comes on top. It might be a monthly plan, a markup per message, or both. Our full WhatsApp API pricing guide covers how different providers charge.
How do you get the WhatsApp Business API in Bangladesh?
You get access through Meta, usually with a provider's sign-up flow: create or pick a Meta business portfolio, connect a phone number, set a display name, add a payment method and, ideally, verify your business. Most providers do the technical part in a guided sign-up that takes under an hour if your documents are ready.
- Get your papers in order. Use the exact legal name on your trade licence. Meta's verification accepts official documents that vary by country, such as a business licence, a tax or VAT registration certificate, a utility bill or a bank statement. The name and address must match your business portfolio, and partners such as 360dialog say the legal name should appear on your website.
- Create or choose a Meta business portfolio. If you already run Facebook ads, you probably have one. Use the same portfolio so your Page and WhatsApp sit together.
- Choose the number. A new SIM is simplest. But if your customers have had the same number for four years and it's printed on every parcel, we'd keep it and ask the provider about coexistence. Otherwise the number must leave the app before it can join the API.
- Set your display name. It shows on your WhatsApp profile, and Meta reviews it. Pick your shop's real brand name, not "Best Deals BD".
- Add a payment method. Pay Meta directly in Business Suite or pay through your provider, depending on the provider's setup.
- Verify the business. Meta's messaging limits page says new portfolios can start conversations with 250 unique people in 24 hours. Verification is one of the ways to move up to 2,000.
- Get your first templates approved. You need approved templates for anything sent outside the 24-hour window, such as order updates and offers. Keep order updates free of promotions. "Your parcel ships today" is utility; "Your parcel ships today, and here's 10% off your next order" gets reclassified as marketing at roughly 20 times the price.

How do you choose a WhatsApp Business API provider in Bangladesh?
Pick a provider by what you'll do at 9 pm with 40 unread chats, not by the sign-up page. Check that it shows Meta's Bangladesh rates separately from its own fee, how you pay (card in dollars or local options), whether it supports keeping your existing number, and whether its inbox and bot handle Bangla and Roman Bangla replies.
There are three kinds of provider. Global platforms bill in dollars, often with a monthly plan. Local agencies and resellers set up WhatsApp for you and may bill in taka; some take bKash, but that's their arrangement, not Meta's. And you can go direct to Meta's Cloud API if you have a developer, paying only Meta's rates but building your own inbox. We've watched shops try the third route and spend four months on a dashboard they could have rented for $15.
Questions we'd ask any provider before paying:
- What do you charge on top of Meta's rate for marketing, utility and service messages to +880 numbers?
- Do you pass on Meta's 1,000 free service messages per number each month, or charge from the first reply?
- Can I keep my current number with coexistence?
- Who owns the WhatsApp account and the portfolio if I leave you? It should be you.
- Can two or three people answer at once, and is there an AI reply that answers from my price list?
Paying is the hurdle we hear about most. Meta's rate cards are in currencies such as USD, and most global providers want an international card. Bangladeshi banks issue dual-currency cards with their own rules; a 2020 Bangladesh Bank clarification, for example, capped single online card payments for permitted purposes at $300. Check your bank's current limits before you choose a plan that bills a large amount at once. Our list of the best WhatsApp API platforms for small businesses compares prices as listed by each vendor.
Where WisperBot fits
WisperBot, a reply-first inbox for WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and website chat, is built by a team in Dhaka for sellers like the ones above. The free plan includes one WhatsApp number plus web chat and 100 AI replies a month, and paid plans start at $15 a month. Its Smart Bot answers from your own price list in Bangla, English or Roman Bangla, and hands chats to your team when it should. Broadcasts use your approved WhatsApp templates, with each customer's own details filled in from contact fields. Meta's WhatsApp fees, where they apply, are separate. The honest catch: we bill in US dollars by card through Stripe, and don't take bKash or Nagad yet. Plans are on the pricing page.
Frequently asked questions
Is the WhatsApp Business API free in Bangladesh?
Connecting is free, but messages aren't. From 1 October 2026 Meta charges about $0.0037 (Tk 0.46) per delivered utility, authentication or service message to a Bangladeshi number (the first 1,000 service messages per number each month are free), and $0.0732 (about Tk 9) per marketing message. Providers add their own fees. Customer messages to you are never charged.
What does WhatsApp API BD pricing look like in taka?
At Bangladesh Bank's 11 October 2026 rate of Tk 123.16 per dollar, a marketing message costs about Tk 9.02 and a utility, authentication or service message about Tk 0.46. Meta's rates are set in dollars, so the taka cost moves with the exchange rate. Provider fees and any tax are extra.
Can I use my existing WhatsApp number for the API?
Usually yes. You can move the number off the WhatsApp Business app and onto the API, or, with a provider that supports coexistence, keep using the app on the same number while adding the API. Coexistence needs app version 2.24.17 or later, and some app features switch off.
Do I need a trade licence to get the WhatsApp Business API?
You can start without business verification, but you'll be limited to starting conversations with 250 people a day. Verifying your business, using official documents such as a trade licence or tax certificate that match your portfolio name and address, is one way to raise that to 2,000.
Can I pay for the WhatsApp Business API with bKash?
Not to Meta directly; Meta bills in currencies such as US dollars, usually by card. Some local providers and resellers may accept bKash and pay Meta for you. Ask how they convert and what they add on top, and get it in writing.
