Comment-to-DM tools, chatbot builders or an AI answer inbox? Six ManyChat alternatives for Instagram, with prices from each vendor's own page.

A reel goes well, 400 people comment "price" overnight, and ManyChat's Free plan covers 25 Active Contacts. That is usually the moment people start looking for a ManyChat alternative for Instagram. The right one depends on what your DMs look like: if they are mostly replies to comment campaigns, a cheaper Instagram-only flow tool such as CreatorFlow, LinkDM or inrō will do the job; if they are open questions about price, size and delivery, you want a tool that answers from your own information, such as Chatfuel's AI plans or WisperBot.

WisperBot, a reply-first inbox for WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and website chat, is our product. It is one of the six, and we say where the others are stronger. Competitor prices and features are as listed on each vendor's own page on 12 October 2026.

Key takeaways

  • ManyChat's paid plans start at $14 a month on annual billing, priced by Active Contacts, with AI from the $29 Pro plan (as listed on 12 October 2026).
  • CreatorFlow, LinkDM and inrō are cheaper Instagram-only tools built around comment-to-DM and story replies. Their pricing pages list DMs or contacts, not per-head overage on most plans.
  • SendPulse and Chatfuel are broader chatbot builders; Chatfuel sells AI credits on its Business plan.
  • WisperBot answers open questions from your price list and hands over to a person, but it does not automate comments for customer accounts yet.
  • Every tool must follow the same Meta rules: the customer messages first, you have 24 hours to reply, and one private reply per commenter until they answer.

What should a ManyChat alternative for Instagram actually do?

It should do the job your DMs need, at a price that does not jump when one post does well. For comment campaigns that means comment-to-DM, keyword triggers and story replies. For shops answering real questions, it means AI answers from your own price list, a shared inbox and a clean handover to a person.

A flow builder runs conversations you scripted in advance: someone comments "LINK", the tool sends the link and a button. An AI answer inbox reads what the customer actually typed ("eta ki M size e ache? Mohammadpur delivery koto?") and replies from your data, or passes it to a person.

Our test is simple. If you could write down most of next week's DMs in advance, buy a flow tool. If you couldn't, because every buyer asks about a different item, size and area, you need answers rather than branches, and no amount of keyword triggers will fix that.

The rules every Instagram DM automation tool has to follow

Every tool here sends messages through Meta's Instagram messaging API, so the same limits apply to all of them. A vendor promising to get round them is a risk to your account.

  • Professional accounts only. Meta's messaging API works with Instagram professional (business or creator) accounts.
  • The customer starts. Meta's guide says conversations "only begin when an Instagram user sends a message" to the account. No cold DMs to a list.
  • 24 hours to reply. After a customer's message you have 24 hours to respond. Outside that, Meta allows a human agent tag for manual replies, which its Messenger documentation describes as a 7-day window.
  • One private reply per commenter. Comment-to-DM uses private replies, which must be sent within 7 days of the comment. Only one message can go to the commenter until they reply.
  • Volume limits. Private replies to post and reel comments are limited to 750 calls per hour per professional account.

The 750-an-hour cap matters for viral posts. If 3,000 people comment in an hour, a comment-to-DM tool cannot answer them all in that hour, whatever its pricing page says. Our guide to what Meta allows in Instagram DM automation covers these rules in more detail.

6 ManyChat alternatives for Instagram compared

For reference, ManyChat's own pricing page lists Free ($0, 25 Active Contacts, two channels, up to 4 live triggers, "Powered by Manychat" on the first message), Essential ($14 a month, shown as $168 billed annually, 250 contacts), Pro ($29 a month, $348 billed annually, 2,500 contacts, AI), Business ($69 a month, 7,500) and Advanced ($139 a month, 25,000). Those monthly figures are the annual-billing rate. Prices exclude tax, and contacts above your plan are charged per head: on Pro, $0.05 each on monthly billing or $0.038 on annual. That per-head charge is the line most people miss until a giveaway adds 2,000 contacts in a weekend.

1. CreatorFlow

CreatorFlow is the closest like-for-like swap if you mainly use ManyChat for comment-to-DM. Its pricing page lists comment-to-DM, story replies and keyword triggers on every plan, including Free, and says "Flat pricing, no per-contact fees". The limit is DMs instead: 500 a month on Free, 5,000 on Pro and 10,000 on Growth ($30 a month, or $24 billed yearly). Its pricing page doesn't mention AI, so open questions still need a person.

2. LinkDM

LinkDM's Free plan gives you 1,000 DMs a month on one Instagram account, with DM and story automation. Comment auto-reply, flow automation and Instagram Live automation start on Pro at $19 a month, which allows 25,000 DMs across three accounts. Like CreatorFlow, its pricing page lists no AI features.

3. inrō

inrō prices in euros. The Free plan covers 100 active contacts a month and three active scenarios, with comment actions and story replies, plus 50 free AI agent credits to try. Pro starts at €12.99 a month on monthly billing, with contacts that scale with use, unlimited automations, up to 10 team members and a 14-day trial.

4. SendPulse

SendPulse is a wider marketing platform with chatbots for Instagram, WhatsApp and other messengers. Its free chatbot plan allows three bots, up to 500 subscribers and 10,000 messages a month, with up to 10 triggers. On Instagram it can reply to comments on posts and Reels and respond to story mentions, and a team member can pause the bot to take over. Pro starts at $12 a month and rises with your subscriber count.

5. Chatfuel

Chatfuel has moved towards AI. Its Business plan is $18 a month billed yearly ($216 a year) and includes $20 of AI credits a month, with features such as qualifying leads, replying to post and Reels comments automatically and selling in the chat. There is no free plan, only a free trial. The page says usage limits apply without listing them, so ask before you commit.

6. WisperBot (ours)

WisperBot is not a comment campaign tool. It is an inbox where a Smart Bot answers DMs from your business details, knowledge and price list (a CSV or Google Sheet, up to 2 MB and 5,000 rows), then hands over to a person with one switch. Instagram, Messenger and Telegram come with Starter at $15 a month. Comment replies are live on our own accounts but waiting on Meta App Review for customers, so if comment-to-DM is how you sell, pick one of the tools above.

Which is the best free ManyChat alternative for Instagram?

For comment-to-DM on a budget, CreatorFlow's Free plan is the most generous on comments, because it includes comment-to-DM and 500 DMs a month. LinkDM gives more DMs (1,000) but keeps comment auto-reply for Pro. If you want to try AI answers, inrō's free credits and WisperBot's 100 free AI replies let you test, though WisperBot's Free plan doesn't include Instagram.

Be careful with "free" when a post takes off. ManyChat's Free plan stops at 25 Active Contacts. CreatorFlow's stops at 500 DMs. Either can run out in an afternoon during a giveaway. Price the paid tier before the giveaway, not halfway through.

Where is ManyChat still the better choice?

ManyChat is still stronger if you run campaigns across several channels at once. Its plans cover Instagram, TikTok, Messenger and Telegram, add WhatsApp, SMS and email from Pro, and include a team inbox with seats. The Instagram-only tools in this list don't cover TikTok, and of the cheaper ones only inrō lists an AI agent.

It is also the most familiar: the agency you hire in Gulshan or Dubai will know it, and templates are everywhere. If your ManyChat bill is fine and your problem is the replies nobody scripted, you may not need to replace it at all; you may need to add something that answers the questions it can't. Our fuller WisperBot vs ManyChat comparison walks through that choice.

How to switch Instagram DM automation tools without double replies

Most switching problems come from two tools answering the same message. Do it in this order.

  1. Export what you have. Write down every active automation in your current tool: keywords, the post or reel it's tied to, and the message it sends.
  2. Pause, don't delete. Switch off automations one by one in the old tool, starting with the default reply, so you can switch them back if needed.
  3. Disconnect the old app from Instagram. Remove its access in your Instagram or Meta settings as well as inside the tool.
  4. Connect the new tool and rebuild only what earned its place. Keyword triggers tied to a reel from March are not worth carrying over.
  5. Test from a personal account. Comment the keyword, send a DM, reply to a story. Check you get exactly one answer each time.
  6. Watch the first 48 hours. Read every automated reply, morning and evening, then the ones that were handed to a person. Two days is enough to catch a keyword that fires on the wrong word.

Switching order: list, pause, disconnect, rebuild, test, watch.

If you keep ManyChat for comments and add an AI inbox for DMs, give each tool one job and test the overlap yourself before a customer does. Our Instagram auto reply message examples are a good starting point for the scripted side.

Where WisperBot fits

WisperBot suits Instagram sellers whose DMs are mostly questions: "dam koto?", "XL ache?", "Chittagong e delivery hobe?". The Smart Bot answers in seconds from your own information, in the customer's language, and a teammate can take over any conversation from the shared inbox or the agent app. It is the wrong pick if you sell through comment campaigns today. Frequently asked questions

Is there a free ManyChat alternative for Instagram?

Yes. As listed on 12 October 2026, CreatorFlow's Free plan includes comment-to-DM and 500 DMs a month, LinkDM's Free plan includes 1,000 DMs a month without comment auto-reply, and inrō's Free plan covers 100 active contacts. All three are fine for testing, but a busy giveaway can use up a free allowance in a day.

What is the cheapest ManyChat alternative for comment-to-DM?

On list prices checked on 12 October 2026, CreatorFlow is the cheapest of the Instagram-only tools here with comment-to-DM: $12 a month billed yearly, or $15 monthly, with no per-contact fees. LinkDM's Pro at $19 a month allows far more DMs. Compare against how many comments your busiest post gets.

Is ManyChat allowed by Instagram?

Yes. ManyChat and the other tools here send messages through Meta's official messaging API, which requires a professional account and only lets you message people who contacted you first. What gets accounts in trouble is tools that log in with your password or send unsolicited DMs, which Meta's API does not allow.

Can I use two Instagram DM automation tools at the same time?

You can, but test it carefully. If both tools respond to new DMs, a customer may get two replies to one message. Give each tool one job, for example comment campaigns in one and question answering in the other, switch off the overlapping automations and check with a test account before you go live.

Do ManyChat alternatives have AI replies?

Some do. As listed on 12 October 2026, Chatfuel sells AI credits on its Business plan, inrō includes AI agent credits, SendPulse mentions an AI assistant in flows, and WisperBot answers from your own information on every plan. CreatorFlow's and LinkDM's pricing pages do not list AI features.
